Introduction to WordPress Workshop
- Next Class: Saturday, February 16, 2013, 8:30 am–2:30 pm – Location: Portsmouth, New Hampshire – Registration: $150
This all-day beginner’s class teaches you all about how WordPress works and why you would want to use it to create your fully functioning website. We start at the very beginning, covering what a website is for, what a blog is, and how to get found on the Internet (i.e., search-engine optimization).
You’ll learn how to use WordPress to create and manage your website with ease in this one-day class. Copious hands-on exercises ensure that you retain the information you learn in this class. We’ll be using practice domain names and hosting accounts for the exercises, but bring questions about your own websites with you.
No experience is necessary!
WordPress has become the way to create gorgeous websites quickly without any programming or other technical skills. If you know how to use a browser and understand basic word processing, you can use WordPress. WordPress is a web-publishing platform that provides an easy-to-use interface for creating and editing web pages. WordPress can be used to create a blog-style website or a non-blog-style website, or a combination of the two.
In this class, we will cover:
- Installing and configuring WordPress
- Creating and editing web content
- Adding images, video, and other media
- Setting up blog-style pages
- Customizing the menu and sidebar
- Managing comments and combating spam
- Enhancing the features of your website with plugins
- And much, much more
PLUS you will receive a take-home guide covering the class material for future reference.
Meet Your Instructor
This class is brought to you by Carl Eric Johnson, president of Carl Eric Johnson & Company. Carl has years of corporate technical education experience, giving you the edge over your competitors. His passion is to explain why maintaining an active blog schedule increases your rankings in the search engines. He’ll teach you the ins and outs of how to write for maximum benefit. Carl’s most recent web projects have all been developed with WordPress for a very simple reason: Why reinvent the wheel? WordPress is a great content-management system, and its PHP flexibility is easy to customize.
